Communication in Preparation

9.9.2024

Presentation

As many of us along the Gulf Coast have been closely monitoring the storm and anticipating the path, there are concerns for you and your family.  Preparations are being made by many including gathering groceries, bringing things indoors, or filling cars up with gas.

As leaders and business owners, ensure clear communication with your staff and employees is part of this process.  Before landfall (which is forecast for Wednesday) ensure employees and staff know details of their expectations as well as the company.  A few questions that may need to be communicated to support and reassure.

  • Is company payroll running this week?  If so, have you reached out to payroll companies and or banks to ensure that it will be timely?
  • Is the office going to close?
  • If they are unable to get to work, who should they contact?
  • What will be the primary form of contact from the company?  Phone calls, social media, emails?

Include communication as part of your hurricane preparedness procedures, to support and reassure employees, while also readying your work center or business for what may come.
